From the Muddy Shores of the Ganges … Studio Talks Audio!

And now the moment we’ve all be waiting for….well, actually it’s probably a moment of anticipation that not too many people besides a couple of us in the Yoga Workshop office who focus in on the blog have actually noticed we’re all waiting for. None the less, here’s the moment: We’re launching our first ever audio cast!

About ten years ago on Sundays after the Mysore class, Richard started giving talks on yoga philosophy at the studio. They were informal in typical Richard style. At about 5:35, as the rest of us were crawling out of savasana, he’d look around the room packed with sweaty practitioners, and decide whether or not he felt inspired. Often he did, and the talk would cover whatever aspect of yoga was up for him at the moment.

More recently we’ve started announcing topics for the talks ahead of time and for six weeks this fall Richard is giving a series of talks on the obstacles to yoga. Recordings of these will be the first in a series of talks we’re making available through the blog.

Admittedly, in last week’s post it was announced that readers should check back in “in a couple of days” for the talk. But last Tuesday, turned quickly into Thursday, which slipped smoothly all the way through the weekend. Between a couple of technological glitches and other work responsibilities, we find ourselves here, a week later with the post. So we rationalized with the ultimate excuse. (We use it whenever possible). If one is doing yoga to become more balanced, present, and calm, isn’t it hypocritical to create something (like an artificial deadline of a post within cyber space) that induces stress?

In the bigger picture of things, what does it really matter?

So, a few days later than we’d hoped, but with as much enthusiasm as ever, here we are with the first in what we hope (but won’t stress out over if they aren’t) are a series of audio posts. Hope you enjoy them!

First part of the series on the “Obstacles to Yoga” is available here: October 21 - The Field of Ignorance.
